YEAR: 2016-17
PROJECT MASTER: Lavazza (Colombo)
ARCHITECTS: CZA – Cino Zucchi Architetti
Completed in Turin between 2016 and 2017 for Lavazza (Colombo), the project by CZA – Cino Zucchi Architetti represents a major urban regeneration project for the city. At the base of the new business center, known as “Nuvola Lavazza,” is a large green plaza overlooking the Lavazza Museum and the converted power plant, now transformed into a contemporary space dedicated to events, entertainment, and food culture.
A distinctive element of the project is the use of smooth architectural panels, which elegantly and geometrically define the facades of the two buildings. These panels not only ensure material continuity between the complex’s various functions, but also lend the project a strong visual identity.
In particular, the surface of the converted power plant is distinguished by a dynamic cladding: the panels detach from the main body of the building, creating an effect of movement and lightness that breaks up the rigidity of the original structure. The smooth finish enhances the purity of the lines and the material quality of the concrete, giving the overall effect a clean, refined look consistent with the innovative image of the Lavazza brand.
